The Divi Difference: Why I use Divi Theme to Build Awesome Small Business Websites

August 7, 2017

There is nothing worse, as a small business owner, than not having a clue what to do when it comes to websites and internet marketing.

It seems like a select few just have the “magic sauce” that helps them win, and everyone is left with only two options:

  1. Somehow, learn how to get some of that sauce! Or,
  2. Pay someone who already has it.

That’s the problem with my industry—I feel like most of the guys out there are like the “untrustworthy mechanic” metaphor. I can’t say I don’t relate.

I have a hard time taking my car to a mechanic because I don’t know about cars! Isn’t that ironic? It’s because I don’t have a clue what tools the mechanic is using, and I don’t know what problems need to be fixed in the first place.

I think a lot of small business owners find themselves in that very same position in today’s digital marketing world.

That’s why I want to give you a small peek into my toolbox. I’ll say up front, this is not a how post, but a why post. There are PLENTY of amazing tutorials online, and I’ll just be adding to the noise to give you one myself.

But what I do want to give you is why you should consider using a theme like Divi—or, why you should consider having us build you a site, which will use the Divi Theme.

Here’s why: I think you can have your sauce and eat it too!

I think I can build you a site that you will be proud of, and empower you to take control of it and get some of the sauce for yourself.

Here are, in my opinion, the top 4 benefits using Divi can have for your small business website:

Benefit #1: Divi is Flexible Enough to Scale; Simple Enough to Launch

The team at Elegant Theme really puts out an amazing product with Divi. Divi Theme provides enough functionality and ease of use that, depending on my customers’ needs, I can have a website launched in just two or three days—or, two or three months! It is able to be completely customized from the ground up. And, just like my practice, there are many web designers who use the Divi Theme exclusively. This means they have had the time to become intimate with the product, and learn about its inner workings. In fact, my favorite way to use Divi is to “build and iterate.” Since I offer Managed Websites instead of charging outrageous project fees, we can get the “MVP” (Minimum Viable Product) out there, and there iterate and change as your business needs/marketing needs shift.

Benefit #2: Divi is Constantly Updated and Iterated On

Speaking of updates and iteration, Elegant Themes does a pretty nice job of this themselves! In fact, there are times when my websites get theme updates twice WEEKLY as new functionality and new features are added on. I have a lifetime membership with Elegant Themes. That means as new products and features come available, they are ready for me to use and implement on your website immediately! And, I think you’ll find that in working with me, I love to offer suggestions about things we can change/improve as time goes on. This is all thanks to the incredible team at ET, and the hard work they do to provide the absolute best page-builder theme in the Wordpress community.

Benefit #3: Divi is a Powerful Framework to Build On, and a Hassle-Free Framework to Maintain

Divi is perhaps the most feature-rich page builder available on the market. Frankly, page-builders get a bad rap, but Divi really goes against the grain here. It is SO customizable that you can really build a site that looks nothing like the standard theme if you know what you’re doing. It offers introductory training videos, A/B lead generation testing, drag & drop back end/visual builder mode, “roles” so access can be limited to certain team members, and on and on. At the same time, after an initial build, maintaining is a breeze! Our Managed Website plans have an hour or two of maintenance built in per month, but there are MANY changes you should feel empowered to handle yourself. Our MVP + Game Changer Managed Website Plans also include 3 hrs. of hands-on training on the Divi Theme per year—so you never have to worry about being behind the curve.

Benefit #4: Divi has an Incredible User Base and a Helpful Community

This could easily be my favorite thing about Divi Theme. If it wasn’t enough that they put out an awesome, easy to use product, the community aspect of Divi is amazing. I would be willing to bet there is a more active community and user base around Divi than any other theme on the market. The content team over at ET does a great job of getting new content out each and every day, and there are multiple FB groups (with THOUSANDS of members), podcasts, online tutorials and tips/tricks (free and paid), and others just WAITING to jump in and help you solve you conundrum (for FREE!). It really feels cool to know you’re not alone. Remember the part about learning how to “get some of the magic sauce”—this is where the Divi community comes in.

Frankly, it’s just not good enough to have a nice looking website anymore. And, it’s not good enough to have a website that is hard and clunky to use, and that you have to call the web designer every time you need to make the smallest of changes. Small business owners should feel empowered to take control of their website.

If you’re ready to take control, why not start a project with us today?
